As a Lead Security Officer, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. Officers perform duties in three main categories, including patrolling the S&C Ridge Boulevard Industrial Campus facility, working in the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), and operating the security gatehouses.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or acceptable General Educational Development (GED), some college preferred.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License In Good Standing
  • Active Illinois Firearms Owner’s Identification Card (FOID)
  • A Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) and ability to successfully obtain the Firearm Control Card (FCC) issued from the State of Illinois, Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • 6-7+ years of security or related background.
  • Industrial security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical and computer skills
  • Effective with conflict resolution, de-escalation, and stress management.
  • Understanding and knowledge of security laws and regulations.
  • Ability to recognize signs of distress or impairment.
  • Ability to demonstrate the following interpersonal skills: reliable, responsible, dependable, adaptable, detail-oriented, flexible, active listening, time management, lead by example, and teamwork
  • Effective judgement and decision making.
  • Partner with leadership to coordinate training and other tasks as needed for team members

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in security, criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field.
  • Any advanced National Incident Management System (NIMS) training
  • Handcuffing certification
  • De-escalation training i.e., Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) certifications

Responsibilities

  • Utilize strong, written communication skills by creating clear and accurate incident and field activity reports in a timely manner.
  • Conduct and document events/ investigations with close attention to detail; gather and summarize statements and facts for records.
  • Perform routine and scheduled patrols of the S&C Campus to regulate traffic and parking, ensure team member safety, respond to emergencies/incidents.
  • Function as first responders to critical and emergent situations including: medical emergencies, fires, hazardous material releases/spills, unauthorized personnel on campus, confined space rescues, severe weather, and building evacuations.
  • Certify and maintain required certification in the use of self-contained breathing apparatus and/or respirators.
  • Monitor fire, building supervisory, high-voltage supply, intrusion alarm, and closed-circuit video systems while assigned to the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC).
  • Monitor entry/exit and access to S&C Campus, with diligence for guiding team members, vehicles, visitors, and contractors.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of all commercial-related entrants.
  • Operate communication systems by serving as radio dispatchers and telephone switchboard operators during off-hours.
  • Directly identifying and addressing safety, trespassing, and workplace violence concerns, which may include, but is not limited to, the detaining of threatening individuals for police resolution.
  • Safely remove unauthorized individuals from the campus using various de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintaining licensing and certifications for essential training and equipment necessary to perform job duties. (PERC, FOID, DL)
  • Conducts department training on Standard Operating Procedures which include but are not limited to testing of alarms systems, fire extinguisher inspections, conducting patrol tours, and review of incident reports.
  • Ability to learn security operations and procedures, then communicate and train others; ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.
  • Daily and weekly documentation on shift activity reports for review by Global Security leadership.
  • Carries out additional duties that can include some or all of the following: orienting and training new team members; planning, assigning, and delegating work; addressing and recording complaints/issues from internal/external customers, serve as point of contact for escalated situations.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
  • Drive a car or another vehicle, e.g. a personnel carrier.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Ability to provide high-quality customer service with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.
