About The Position

This position is a Room Service Asst Lead (Trayline) at the Broadway Campus. Scheduled hours are 6-230pm and includes rotating weekends and holidays. The role demonstrates established knowledge and experience of the Food Service department by continuously providing direction, making decisions and answering questions for the room service assistant staff members. It provides daily supervision according to quality standards. The Lead Room Service Assistant demonstrates competencies and practices within the full scope of Food Service/Room Service expertise and utilizes appropriate tools to assist in challenging circumstances. They demonstrate leadership to employees, serving as a role model and encouraging vision and change projects. The role practices positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones. The Lead Room Service Assistant leads a variety of duties involved with food service for patients, serves meals and snacks to patients in a professional manner, ensures rotation of floor supplies and maintains supplies up to Periodic Automatic Replenishment (PAR) levels. They deliver appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing patients on meal ordering systems and assessing patients' ability to utilize the meal order system. The role communicates effectively, timely and often with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians and call center staff. They use computerized diet sheets, access patient computer system, and retrieve completed meals from patients' rooms and record intake and calorie count information. The Lead Room Service Assistant maintains compliance with all Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines. They obtain, transpose and process meal orders from patients and visitors over the telephone, verifying that meal orders meet diet order parameters and provide appropriate menu for diet. The role possesses excellent customer service skills continuously, displays listening skills and effectively communicates with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff, and establishes effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience required.
  • Depending on location, preceptor CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) course completed within two years of hire and/or a current student in a dictionary program.
  • CDM must be renewed every three years.
  • Depending upon location of hire, Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame, typically one year.
  • Serv Safe must be renewed every five years.
