The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) located at the Memphis, TN VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Lead Retail Sales Associate to provide quality service to our nation's veterans. Major Duties and Responsibilities: The Lead Retail Sales Associate has responsibility for control of retail sales operations in the Canteen Service under the general instructions of the Canteen Chief. Duties: Assists customer in locating products & provides detailed information to enhance their shopping experience. Handles sales transactions efficiently using a cash register, ensuring accuracy & customer satisfaction. Restocks merchandise and ensures products are properly labeled for display. Maintains a clean & organized store environment, ensuring a pleasant & efficient shopping experience. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to lead RSA staff with enthusiasm. Learning to cover all the different stations as needed to endure a smooth-running department and cover breaks when needed. Requirements

  • A current, valid REAL ID is required to work at Veterans Canteen Service.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions.
  • Requires constant standing, walking, and frequent bending.
  • Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the service industry.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a condition of employment.
  • It is a requirement that all HCP receive the annual seasonal influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption for medical or religious reasons.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with retail software and point-of-sale systems is a plus.
