About The Position

Fraser Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as Lead, Resilience & Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). In this key leadership role, you will drive the strategic direction, design, and implementation of resiliency programs and CISM response services across the organization. You will play a vital role in supporting the psychological health, safety, and resilience of our people—ensuring staff and leaders are equipped to respond to and recover from critical incidents. Reporting to the Leader, Culture Transformation, the Lead, Resilience and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), provides organizational leadership for resiliency, personal and team renewal and trauma response for providers; provides oversight for the people and organization development processes concerning health and wellness of staff and trauma and critical incidence responses. The Lead is responsible for the organizational strategy, planning, implementation and evaluation of an authority wide resiliency and CISM program.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work
  • 7–9 years’ recent, related experience in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) methodologies
  • Proven experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Registered member in good standing with an applicable professional regulatory body
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Access to a personal vehicle for business-related travel
  • Seven ( 7) to nine (9) years' recent, related experience in a healthcare setting with working knowledge and experience in the application of accepted CISM methodology plus experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registered member of an applicable professional organization.
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License and a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Critical Incident Stress Management theory and application.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a personal computer (PC) and applicable software applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations, legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for Fraser Health’s Resiliency and CISM program, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and workforce needs.
  • Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of resiliency education and CISM response services.
  • Supervise the CISM Specialist, including: Orientation and onboarding, Ongoing training and mentorship, Performance management and career development
  • Oversee development of programs that build leadership capacity to recognize and respond to resiliency needs within their teams.
  • Partner with managers, leaders, and teams to foster resilience and psychological recovery following critical incidents.
  • Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Provides leadership for the Resiliency and CISM program ensuring the strategic focus, design and implementation of the resiliency education and CISM response are aligned with the needs of the organization.
  • Supervises the work of the CISM Specialist including orientation, training, mentoring, performance reviews and career development planning.
  • Oversees the development of programs that enables manager/leader capacity, skills and abilities that identify and respond to resiliency needs. Partners with these leaders and teams on building hardiness after critical incidents experienced by staff.
  • Provides leadership and implements and evaluates instructional programs, training and educational material to promote understanding of the impact of critical incident stress in the workplace.
  • Partners with Communications to develop and implement a communication strategy to increase awareness about resiliency and available critical incident supports.
  • Provides leadership and professional consulting services in relation to resiliency education and critical incident interventions for staff, physicians and volunteers of Fraser Health.
  • Develops implements and evaluates standards of practice, procedures and protocols for anticipating, recognizing, preventing and/or mitigating the impact of critical incident stress in the workplace.
  • Recruits, monitors and supports the resiliency education and CISM practice work of external practitioners. Monitors the budget and authorizes external CISM practitioner payments.
  • Develops and evaluates measurement indicators, audit processes, data collection and analysis tools to assess effectiveness of the critical incident stress management program; makes recommendations on findings to the Leader.
  • Builds partnerships with internal and external services to develop an integrated service delivery model for employees. Acts in concert with other FH Leaders in liaising with EAP, WorkSafeBC Critical Incident Response program and other external resources.
  • Identifies research pertinent to resiliency and CISM strategies and practice that assists in shaping the Fraser Health Resiliency and CISM program.
