About The Position

This position involves performing a variety of specialized and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures under minimal supervision, using independent judgment in applying or adapting scientific techniques. The specialist may assist in protocol design, investigate and propose alternative experimental procedures, and assist in planning and scheduling research procedures. The role includes analyzing and interpreting results, demonstrating and training others in laboratory techniques and equipment, and calibrating, troubleshooting, and performing routine repair and maintenance of equipment. Reviewing literature for research developments, monitoring laboratory processes for quality assurance, and recording, compiling, and analyzing data are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the position involves monitoring the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances. Employees may be required to work with, take specific precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field and two years of research experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Ability to multitask and independently run experiments of all different types and analyze experimental results after being taught.
  • A minimum of 2 years dedication to this job is requested due to the time and effort.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong expertise in either immunology, immune-oncology or cell and cancer biology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cytometry and immunophenotyping, including sample processing, data acquisition, and data analysis using FlowJo/Cytobank software.
  • Proficient skillset in functional immunology assays.
  • Routine cell culture or organoid modeling and molecular biology techniques (western blot, RT-qPCR, Elisa, etc.).
  • Animal handling experience.
  • Self-motivation, strong work ethic, team player, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Effective judgment and problem solving skills with little or no supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning and scheduling research procedures.

  • Demonstrates and trains others in the proper use/operation of laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Calibrates, troubleshoots and performs routine repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Reviews literature for related research developments and techniques and compiles findings.
  • Monitors laboratory processes to maintain quality assurance standards.
  • Records results of studies, compiles and analyzes data and prepares charts and graphs.
  • Monitors the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Processing clinical trial samples for mass cytometry (Cytof) is part of the position.
  • Perform animal experiments.
