About The Position

The Lead Repair Engineer is the technical leader within Vecima’s Repair Center, responsible for diagnosing complex product issues, driving root-cause investigations, and improving product reliability and repair processes. Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Engineering, and Technical Support teams, this role develops repair strategies, supports new product introductions, mentors technicians, and ensures repair operations meet high standards for quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This position combines hands-on troubleshooting, engineering expertise, and technical leadership to support operational excellence throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required.
  • 5–8 years of experience in electronics repair, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems, circuit boards, and communications products, including failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of analog, digital, RF, optical, and electronic systems.
  • Proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, and network analyzers.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, BOMs, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, product reliability principles, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience developing test procedures, repair methodologies, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functions and provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electronic, RF, optical, and network-based products.
  • Perform detailed root-cause analysis on product failures and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze recurring repair trends and identify opportunities to improve product reliability and serviceability.
  • Develop and validate advanced test procedures, repair methods, and diagnostic tools.
  • Support escalated technical issues that cannot be resolved through standard repair processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to investigate field returns, manufacturing defects, and product performance issues.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction activities to ensure products are designed with repairability and serviceability in mind.
  • Review engineering documentation, test plans, and product specifications to assess repair readiness.
  • Identify tooling, test equipment, training, and process requirements needed to support new products.
  • Recommend design improvements that enhance repair efficiency and product lifecycle support.
  • Evaluate repair data, failure modes, and service trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop engineering solutions to reduce repair turnaround time, improve first-pass yield, and enhance product quality.
  • Partner with Quality and Manufacturing teams to resolve systemic issues impacting product performance.
  • Support corrective action processes by providing technical expertise and repair data analysis.
  • Maintain and improve repair documentation, procedures, and technical work instructions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Repair Technicians and other team members.
  • Deliver training on repair techniques, troubleshooting methodologies, and new product technologies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for repair processes, test systems, and product functionality.
  • Support cross-functional project teams and contribute to technical decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure repair activities comply with company quality standards, workmanship requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain accurate repair records, engineering reports, and technical documentation.
  • Adhere to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures and all applicable health and safety requirements.
  • Support ISO and quality management system requirements as applicable.
