About The Position

Supervises and performs the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of relay, control, and telemetry equipment in plants, substations, gas gates and customer-owned facilities. Oversees day-to-day operations of the relay and electrical technicians in the Substation Technical Support group. Makes work assignments, answers relay and SCADA related questions. Provides assistance in troubleshooting incorrect system operations. Provides training to the relay and electrical technicians as needed. Assist the salaried supervisor with planning and budgeting. Corrects wiring drawings and diagrams. Insures testing and commissioning documentation is complete and accurate. Performs the job duties of relay technician and/or electrical technician. Performs all work according to established safety practices. Performs all duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Education or a combination of training and experience equivalent to 3 years' study in an engineering college
  • 6 years of combined technical experience as a relay or electrical technician
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Proven technical experience in plant and substation electrical or system protection work
  • Proven ability to direct and work with others
  • Demonstrated mechanical and analytical ability
  • Aptitude for detail
  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer and associated software, i.e., Windows, Excel, Word, relay test software, and communication packages
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness to handle unusual technical situations
  • Physical ability to perform job duties
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
