About The Position

Voya is seeking a Lead Financial Analyst to join Voya's Reinsurance team. The position is responsible for administering reinsurance treaties and reinsurance reporting. We are looking for an individual with a passion for process improvements and automation. This role is primarily work-from-home but will be occasionally expected to work out of the Minneapolis office. The position involves administering reinsurance agreements, preparing and compiling reinsurance settlements and reports. It also includes identifying and leading the implementation of improvements within workstream processes, analyzing and creating automation opportunities, and maintaining the integrity of the reinsurance administration system and data. The role requires reviewing and validating reinsurance settlements reports received from reinsurers for completeness and accuracy. Additionally, the analyst will contribute to financial close cycles, including recording journal entries, issuing wires, reviewing and analyzing operating statements, and providing flux analysis. The position also entails undertaking ad-hoc tasks, projects, and analysis under limited supervision, interacting with various business partners, reinsurers, and third-party administrators, and delivering succinct and clear summarizations of analysis. Participation in internal and external audit testing is required to ensure reinsurance processes and reporting activities comply with audit standards, including sufficient controls. The Lead Financial Analyst will share technical expertise, guide junior team members, support other team members (including reviewing offshore work), manage multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines, and work with large and complex Excel files to scale data into meaningful analysis.

Requirements

  • BA degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of reinsurance finance experience with a life insurance focus
  • Experience working with admin systems, ledger data and familiar with operating statements
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, reinsurance operations and financial reporting
  • Work with various organizational teams and leadership

  • Excellent oral and written communications
  • GAAP and Statutory reporting knowledge is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer reinsurance agreements including preparing and compiling reinsurance settlements and reports.
  • Identify and lead the implementation of improvements within workstream processes.
  • Analyze and create automation opportunities within the existing reinsurance processes.
  • Maintaining integrity of reinsurance admin system and data.
  • Review and validate reinsurance settlements reports received from reinsurers for completeness and accuracy per agreements.
  • Contribute to financial close cycles, including recording journal entries, issuing wires, reviewing, and analyzing operating statements, and providing flux analysis.
  • Undertake ad-hoc tasks, projects and analysis upon request under limited supervision.
  • Work on various responsibilities associated with reinsurance and reporting and interact with various business partners.
  • Interact, communicate, and maintain liaison with reinsurers and third-party administrators to ensure the quality, accuracy and completeness of reports received.
  • Deliver succinct and clear summarizations of analysis tailored to the needs of different customers.
  • Participate in internal and external audit testing.
  • Ensure reinsurance processes and reporting activities are in compliance with audit standards, including sufficient controls and efficient reinsurance processes established/maintained.
  • Share technical expertise and guide junior team members.
  • Support other team members, including reviewing offshore work.
  • Able to manage multiple, often competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Able to work with large and complex excel files and scale the data into meaningful analysis
