About The Position

Piedmont Eastside is seeking a full-time Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist for night shifts. This role offers a sign-on bonus and is an opportunity to join a dedicated Respiratory Department focused on quality, patient-centered care. The team utilizes Respiratory Driven Protocols, and RTs have the opportunity to intubate and insert A-lines after competency. The department covers various units including adult cardiac care, medical/surgical ICU, progressive care, acute care floors, and a Women's Center with a Level 3 NICU where RTs attend deliveries and care for neonates. They also perform pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and EKGs. The department manages a variety of ventilators and equipment, and offers cross-training opportunities in EEGs, PFTs, and NICU. Professional development is encouraged through conferences and leadership/skills courses. The team consists of approximately 50 members, including leads, a supervisor, and a director. Shifts typically have 6-7 RTs at night, varying with census and acuity, and also cover a South Campus with an ED, behavioral health unit, and acute care rehab.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy Sciences.
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience in respiratory care.
  • Current BCLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required.
  • Proficient in all patient care settings (i.e., adult ICU, NICU).
  • If limited NICU experience, able to ramp up basic skill set (i.e., delivery support, blood gases, equipment setup) within a defined timeframe.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Professional in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the supervision of shift activities, and acts as the expert during his or her assigned shift.
  • Duties include daily support of staffing and assignments, providing resource support, supporting preceptor tasks, and fulfilling assigned patient care workload.
  • Serves as a role model and advocates a highly efficient, accountable and collaborative team environment between staff and with physicians.
  • Delivers the highest standards of patient safety and quality of care.
