Requirements

  • Successful Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse within the state of employment
  • Current CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises nursing staff, ensuring adherence to licensure scope, policies, and procedures.
  • Reviews and audits nursing care plans, medical records, and staff performance, providing coaching and reporting findings.
  • Coordinates patient care with other departments and supports continuity of care across the facility.
  • Assists in training, orientation, staff meetings, and maintaining unit cleanliness, safety, and professional standards.
  • Identifies problems, develops solutions, and communicates issues or corrective actions to the Director of Nursing.
  • Oversees the delivery of nursing care in their assigned unit, ensuring adherence to state guidelines and company policies.
  • Supervises and guides nursing and ancillary staff, auditing performance and providing coaching where needed.
  • Reviews nursing care plans, monitors patient outcomes, and maintains high standards of patient teaching and self-care.
  • Coordinates care across departments, ensures cleanliness and order in the unit, and supports orientation and training for new staff.
  • Requires attendance at institutional meetings and travel as needed.
  • Work performed in a correctional facility setting.
