About The Position

The Full-Time Lead Racquet Sports Professional is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality instruction, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and special events for all racquet sports programming. This position plays a key role in creating a fun, energetic, and engaging on-court experience for members and resort guests while helping grow participation in tennis, pickleball, and spec tennis. The Lead Professional will work closely with the Club Director to develop new programs, enhance existing offerings, build strong member relationships, and support the overall success of the racquet sports department. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional knowledge of both tennis and pickleball, is a strong player in both sports, and demonstrates a passion for teaching players of all ages and abilities.

Requirements

  • RSPA, USPTR, PPR or equivalent racquet sports certification preferred.
  • Available full-time, year-round schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong tennis and pickleball playing background with a minimum 4.5-level playing ability.
  • Extensive knowledge of pickleball strategy, techniques, rules, player development, league structures, and event management.
  • Strong understanding of modern tennis instruction, player development pathways, and competitive tennis.
  • Ability to confidently teach and promote all racquet sports offered at the club, including Tennis and Pickleball.
  • Experience developing and coaching junior and adult players of all skill levels.
  • Comfortable teaching groups of 4–8 players and larger clinic formats.
  • Knowledge of USTA tournaments, player development pathways, and competitive scheduling.
  • Organized, professional, highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and enthusiastic.
  • Demonstrated ability to start new programs and grow existing programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and mentor coaching staff.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to attract clients and build a successful teaching portfolio.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to participate in professional development training and continuing education.
  • Proficient with computer systems, including JONAS software or similar club-management platforms.
  • Willing to undergo a background check.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Former collegiate playing experience preferred.
  • Experience training advanced and high-performance players preferred.
  • Prior experience with R-O-G-Y (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow) tennis methodology preferred.
  • Experience organizing tournaments, leagues, and member events is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach private lessons, group clinics, camps, leagues, and special events.
  • Provide instruction for juniors and adults ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
  • Assist in the planning, promotion, and execution of tennis, pickleball, and spec tennis programs.
  • Create a positive, welcoming, and engaging environment that encourages player development and participation.
  • Organize and assist with tournaments, social events, mixers, and member activities.
  • Work closely with the Club Director to implement new programs and continually improve existing programs.
  • Assist with the supervision, training, mentoring, and development of other coaches and teaching professionals.
  • Help manage court scheduling, program organization, and daily facility operations.
  • Assist with the maintenance and presentation of all tennis and pickleball facilities and equipment.
  • Contribute to monthly communications, program marketing, and member engagement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Club Director.
