About The Position

The QMS Lead Quality Production Engineer is responsible for leading Quality Management System (QMS) execution and continuous improvement within Gas Power manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with regulatory, customer, and GE Vernova quality requirements while driving manufacturing excellence, defect prevention, process capability, and operational quality performance. The successful candidate will partner closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS, Product Quality, and Operations leaders to develop robust quality controls, reduce non-conformances, improve first-pass yield, and strengthen a culture of quality throughout the manufacturing organization. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality production of gas turbine, generator, and associated power-generation components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Industrial Engineering Quality Engineering Materials Engineering Or related technical field OR a High School Diploma with at least 6 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing / quality experience
  • 2+ years working within a regulated Quality Management System environment
  • Experience supporting complex industrial manufacturing operations
  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience in ISO 9001
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Executive-level presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate quality risks and improvement opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Ownership includes both quality assurance and quality control. Includes quality assurance of products, services, manufacturing processes. Includes conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, witness points, etc.
  • Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development.
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles.
  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

  • Oversee and implement the Generator QMS, Audit, Non-Conformance, Field Complaint, and Gage Calibration System.
  • Work with Assembly Cells to acquire and package Customer Documentation.
  • Help establish and administer Process Quality Engineer Training program.
  • Assist other Quality Engineers with 8D Problem Solving.
  • Lead implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing Quality Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and GE Vernova quality policies.
  • Support internal, external, and customer quality audits.
  • Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and process controls.
  • Drive quality improvements across production operations.
  • Establish and monitor key quality metrics including: First Pass Yield (FPY) Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) Scrap and Rework Customer Escapes Audit Findings.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct process capability studies and statistical analysis.
  • Implement preventive quality controls and mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions.
  • Lead quality improvement projects focused on productivity, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage non-conformance reporting processes.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis using: 8D DMAIC Fishbone Analysis 5 Why Methodology Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and manufacturing process changes.
  • Mentor production quality engineers and shop-floor personnel.
  • Drive accountability for quality performance throughout the organization.
  • Support customer audits and quality reviews.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality teams to address incoming material issues.
  • Drive containment and corrective action efforts for customer complaints and field quality concerns.
