About The Position

The Lead Quality Engineer is responsible for design control and risk management as part of cross-functional teams working on new product introductions. The role requires mastery of quality tools as well as functional quality skills. This role includes both Quality Assurance and Quality Control, such as the quality assurance of products and manufacturing processes, as well as conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, and product inspection. This position is onsite supporting first shift Production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Production Quality)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Production Quality
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.
  • GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Broad understanding of Quality Tools such as RCCA, PFMEA, Gage R&R, and 6M analysis.
  • Understanding of process capability measurements & triggers to enhance (CP, CPk, FTY).
  • Partnering with manufacturing engineering to identify process improvements.
  • General knowledge of APQP.
  • Understanding of MRB processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead non-conformance reviews and maintain NC metrics.
  • Develop new countermeasures under guidance and/or in a team setting to reduce losses.
  • Identify, create, and drive projects to improve quality processes within the plant.
  • Train and audit shop employees and processes to ensure conformance and competency.
  • Work with cross functional teams to drive quality improvements by monitoring metrics, defining problems, working projects, and communicating the results.
  • Mentor shop personnel & partners with manufacturing engineering team to consider quality & Lean/Six Sigma when developing quality plans and improvement projects.
  • Consistently apply RCCA methodology; Proactively analyze data and implement controls to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Perform/lead RCCA team(s).
  • Manage configuration management and process controls including inspection plans, first article inspections, quality plans, GD&T, etc.
  • Engage and support the customer as required.
