About The Position

The Lead QC Microbiologist – Second Shift is a hands-on leadership role responsible for performing routine QC microbiology testing while supporting, training, and guiding a team of analysts in a cGMP-regulated environment. This role plays a key part in environmental monitoring programs, laboratory investigations, and daily laboratory operations while ensuring compliance, data integrity, and team performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on microbiology experience in an industry cGMP environment
  • Demonstrated leadership or lead-level experience
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with LIMS
  • Familiarity with environmental monitoring, water systems, and clean utilities
  • Experience supporting audits and laboratory investigations

Responsibilities

  • Perform all routine QC microbiology testing and activities
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and compressed gas sampling of controlled environments
  • Collect water and clean steam samples from manufacturing systems
  • Support laboratory operations, including inventory management and stocking of media, reagents, and supplies
  • Execute and document laboratory investigations and reports
  • Utilize LIMS to track samples, testing activities, and results
  • Schedule and coordinate routine testing activities (weekly, monthly, quarterly)
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and cGMP requirements
  • Meet physical job demands, including lifting up to 25 lbs., standing/walking for extended periods, and handling laboratory equipment
  • Support and monitor performance of a team of QC microbiology analysts
  • Participate in onboarding and training of new and existing employees
  • Perform peer review of laboratory data and documentation
  • Assist with coordinating equipment maintenance and calibration activities
  • Participate in interview participation as needed
  • Support overtime and weekend coverage as required
