This position demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs. In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, the Lead Public Safety Officer coordinates the work of assigned department staff and determines daily work post assignments. They also assist the Shift Supervisor in training and orienting newly hired Security Officers on their shift, monitor Security Officers in performance of their duties, and provide on-going direction of activities during the shift. The Lead Public Safety Officer determines when an incident requires a written report, which report form to use, and submits it to the Supervisor, Public Safety. They also prepare other written reports as directed and assist the Shift Supervisor in coordinating interviews for investigations with employees and law enforcement agencies. The Lead Public Safety Officer briefs the oncoming Lead Officer regarding any reports and pertinent information and performs the duties of a Public Safety Officer.
