About The Position

Strives to provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients and staff of New Bedford Community Health (the “Health Center”). By being noticeably present and available, serves as a deterrence to any inappropriate or prohibited activity within the Health Center. Collaborates with the Chief Safety Officer to oversee security department staff and insure that all post orders are followed. Requirements

  • Must meet the physical demands for performing the duties of this job
  • Courteous, professional manner in dealing with the public
  • Ability to address employee issues directly, in a timely manner, and with empathy and respect
  • Experience using surveillance investigation systems is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 5 years Security/Law Enforcement Experience.
  • 1-3 years of Security/Law Enforcement Management Experience
  • Must have completed MOAB training / Mental Health First Aid Training / Certified Advanced Health Security Officer (CAHSO)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel is required

Nice To Haves

  • Radio programming experience is preferred
  • surveillance installation experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all Patient Services Ambassadors and Public Safety Officers are adhering to their assigned post orders as designed by the Chief Safety Officer.
  • Schedules Public Safety Officers to ensure that there is appropriate staffing for opening and closing the facility (Mon-Sat).
  • Oversees the testing of all radio equipment, including panic buttons, to confirm they are functional.
  • Conducts bi-annual security site inspections in collaboration with the Chief Safety Officer.
  • Stays up-to-date with organizational e-mail messages and ensures that the security staff are aware of any important updates and/or changes.
  • Attends the Safety/EM/IC Committee as a representative of the security department.
  • Manage all department paperwork in the communications office. Such documents include the “Confiscated Weapons Log,” “Lost and Found Log,” and “Security Alert Log,” etc.
  • Attends regular meetings with the Chief Safety Officer to establish department goals.
  • Serves as “on-call” point-of-contact for after-hours alarm calls when the Chief Safety Officer is unavailable.
  • Reviews incident reports to ensure that public safety officers are properly documenting security incidents.
  • Makes sure that all security personnel are adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed.
