Hana Industries, Inc. is actively seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Lead Protective Security Officers at the Social Security Administration Headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. Each Lead Protective Security Officer (LPSO) reports directly to the Major and Project Manager and plays a key role in supporting the safety, security, and overall effectiveness of the worksite. The LPSO helps ensure that PSOs are properly trained, equipped, and prepared to perform their duties; that performance meets all contract requirements, post orders, and company policies; and that operational concerns are promptly identified and addressed. As a frontline leader, the LPSO is also expected to set a positive example and help foster a safe, professional, and respectful work environment where employees are treated with dignity and accountability.

Requirements

Proven experience, training, and knowledge working as a professional security officer and supervisor.
Understands the seriousness of carrying a weapon and acts with caution and accountability at all times.
Maintains high situational awareness and is quick to notice and respond to unusual behavior or safety threats.
Demonstrates honesty, ethics, and adherence to rules, especially when no one is watching.
Shows up on time, completes assignments, and can be counted on to perform under pressure.
Balances security duties with providing help or direction to employees, clients, or the public when appropriate.
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
Minimum of 2 years of armed security experience within the past five years OR Minimum of 1 year of law enforcement experience in full-duty status with a full-service police department within the US, with a good standing resignation or retirement OR Minimum of 2 years of honorable service as a member of any US Armed Forces, National Guard, or Reserve service.
High school diploma or GED.
Must possess a valid Maryland State Clearance Card and Maryland Wear and Carry (handgun permit)
Minimum age requirement: 21 years
US citizenship or lawful permanent residency for current members of the U.S. Armed Services or individuals with an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Military
Possession of an approved Social Security Card issued by SSA
Ability to obtain favorable verification through the E-Verify system
Willingness to work evenings, overnights, and weekends as required
Fluent in spoken, written, and comprehended English
Possession of a current State-issued Driver’s License or State ID
Proficiency with firearms
Ability to handle common and crisis situations at the client site calmly and efficiently
Professional demeanor and appearance
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Team-oriented and safety-conscious
High level of ethics and integrity.
Able to obtain and maintain SSA suitability
Successful completion of Medical/Physical examination and Drug testing with favorable results
Successful completion of New Hire Academy training
Successful passing of firearms qualifications.
Stand and walk for extended periods
Work outdoors in various weather conditions
Work extended shifts and overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

Leadership. Responsible for working with management to foster a “one-team” culture where all employees are expected to adhere to our Core Values and support each other to ensure the security and safety of all SSA and Company employees. Scheduling/ Staffing. Responsible for working with management to ensure the timely publication of the schedules, backfilling unscheduled call-offs, and making last minute modifications to the schedules to avoid unexpected open posts, all in accordance with Company policies and procedures and applicable CBA commitments.
Compliance. Each LPSO is responsible for ensuring the workforce complies with all company policies and procedures, contract and training requirements, and applicable laws and regulations. The LPSO will recommend disciplinary actions to management and the Major and or PM have the authority to issue disciplinary action in conformance with the Company’s Progressive Disciplinary Policy and other applicable policies.
Attendance. Each LPSO is responsible for ensuring all PSO report to work on time and for relieving PSOs in the event of early departures due to illness or other unexpected event. Working with the management , each LPSO is responsible for the fair and consistent enforcement of our attendance policy in accordance with our Progressive Disciplinary Policy.
Performance Recognition. Responsible for working with the Management to create a work environment where excellence is rewarded. This includes, but is not limited to, the Company’s Spot Award Program and other award programs are utilized in a fair and consistent manner and in compliance with our Core Values and applicable Company policies and procedures.
PSO QC Inspections. Responsible for conduct inspections of all PSOs at the beginning of their shifts and periodically thereafter. All inspections will be recorded electronically using iAuditor which is a QC program loaded onto a tablet. Each LPSO is also responsible for ensuring our PSO’s meet the expectations of our Quality Control Program. This may include, as an example, ensuring compliance to uniform and grooming standards, testing PSO knowledge of their post orders, visitor directions, and other matters relevant to their duties.
PSO Alertness. Responsible for visiting all posts throughout his/her shift to ensure that our PSOs are alert and attentive to their environment. Each LPSO is also responsible for conveying situational awareness regarding developing events.
Safety Inspections. Responsible for inspecting the surrounding work environment for potential hazards and reminding PSOs of seasonal safety concerns (e.g., adverse weather conditions, pandemic, slip and fall risks during the winter) in accordance with our Safety Plan.
Administration. Performs administrative tasks as required by management, including, but not limited to, preparing work reports and other documentation, payroll timekeeping, other similar administrative support requested by the PM.
Emergency Backfill. Backfills a PSO post in an emergency to prevent an opening or weakness in the security perimeter.
Other Duties. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned by management to ensure the effective and efficient security operations in fulfillment of the Company’s mission.
