About The Position

You will own both the quality of daily field work and the mechanical side of the operation. You will lead by example on job sites, coach a Junior Technician, and represent HomeSmiles professionally. As a locally owned startup, we don't have layers of management to fall back on. The right person for this role takes genuine ownership, shows up ready every day, and takes pride in being the person our customers trust. This is a key early hire for our Northwest Ohio launch, with a clear path to broader leadership as the business grows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical, equipment maintenance, or skilled trades experience. Small engine repair, fleet maintenance, or equipment service all translate well.
  • Comfortable with tools, heights, and power equipment.
  • Communicate clearly, present yourself professionally, and leave every customer confident in the service they received.
  • Think ahead, build contingency plans before each job, and adjust on the spot when conditions change. When something breaks or a job goes sideways, you figure it out.
  • Want to build something, not just collect a paycheck.
  • Show up, follow through, and communicate.
  • Notice what others miss and take pride in your work. You leave every job site better than you found it.
  • Coach a Junior Technician with a keen eye to safety and quality.
  • Smartphones, scheduling apps, and digital reporting don't slow you down.

Responsibilities

  • Drive to customer locations and manage appointments from start to finish.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance services: power and soft washing, gutter cleaning, window washing, dryer vent cleaning, and other preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Document completed work on a company tablet and recommend add-on services.
  • Keep the service van and all equipment in peak operating condition through routine maintenance and inspection. When something fails mid-job, diagnose and fix it fast so the day stays on track.
  • Coach and support a Junior Technician.
