Responsible for full lifecycle Project Engineering support for a range of software and hardware development, assembly, integration, test, and production efforts. This role involves successfully leading a large, cross-disciplinary project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments. The Lead Project Engineer develops, oversees, and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of an ongoing engineering project within program guidelines, reviews project status and budgets, manages schedules, drives execution, and identifies opportunities. They assess engineering issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals, while also identifying, tracking, mitigating, managing, and disposing of program-level risks and opportunities. This position estimates resource and material needs, provides coordination between resource managers, and ensures necessary reviews and approvals are received. A key aspect is understanding how to develop a schedule using Earned Value (EV) and manage a project using Earned Value Indicators on a DCMA surveilled program. The role requires participation in large teams, performing a wide variety of tasks to drive execution, and working collaboratively in a team environment on quick reaction projects with regular customer contact. Performance is reported to senior management and externally to the customer. The Lead Project Engineer also leads engineering proposal efforts for follow-on Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and new program pursuits, working under the direction of an Enterprise level Project Engineer to meet business area objectives.
