About The Position

Responsible for full lifecycle Project Engineering support for a range of software and hardware development, assembly, integration, test, and production efforts. This role involves successfully leading a large, cross-disciplinary project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments. The Lead Project Engineer develops, oversees, and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of an ongoing engineering project within program guidelines, reviews project status and budgets, manages schedules, drives execution, and identifies opportunities. They assess engineering issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals, while also identifying, tracking, mitigating, managing, and disposing of program-level risks and opportunities. This position estimates resource and material needs, provides coordination between resource managers, and ensures necessary reviews and approvals are received. A key aspect is understanding how to develop a schedule using Earned Value (EV) and manage a project using Earned Value Indicators on a DCMA surveilled program. The role requires participation in large teams, performing a wide variety of tasks to drive execution, and working collaboratively in a team environment on quick reaction projects with regular customer contact. Performance is reported to senior management and externally to the customer. The Lead Project Engineer also leads engineering proposal efforts for follow-on Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and new program pursuits, working under the direction of an Enterprise level Project Engineer to meet business area objectives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Active Secret Security Clearance.

Experience in Root Cause Corrective Action process and techniques
Program Management Institute – PMP certification desired or internal CAM/IPTL/PL certifications
Experience in Electronic Warfare (EW) development programs

Responsibilities

Successfully leading a large, cross-disciplinary, project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments.
Developing, overseeing, and coordinating the cost/schedule/technical aspects of an ongoing engineering project within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer.
Reviewing status of engineering projects and budgets, managing schedules, driving execution, identifying opportunities, and delivering results through achieving payment milestones.
Assessing engineering issues and developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Identifying, tracking, mitigating, managing, and dispositions program-level risks and opportunities.
Estimating resource and material needs for the project/product.
Providing the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensuring all necessary reviews and approvals are received.
Understanding how to develop a schedule using Earned Value (EV) and manage a project using the Earned Value Indicators on a DCMA surveilled program (highest rigor applied).
Participating in large teams and performing a wide variety of tasks to drive execution (e.g., value stream mapping activities).
Working in a collaborative team environment on quick reaction projects and having regular contact with customers.
Reporting/communicating program performance to senior level management, as well as externally, to the program customer.
Leading engineering proposal efforts for follow-on Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and new program pursuits.
Working under the direction of an Enterprise level Project Engineer, to meet business area objectives.
