About The Position

The Lead Project Engineer applies technical knowledge and structured project leadership to reduce project risks throughout execution. The position operates independently with some management oversight as a project lead, individual contributor, technical consultant, project champion, and mentor in structured product development. It is a high-exposure technical leadership role with opportunities to lead high-profile programs, expand influence, develop leadership skills, and improve processes and effectiveness. The role is expected to have significant impact on business results and is not suited to individuals who need daily task guidance or micromanagement. The position leads medium-complexity projects, generally within the engineer’s technical domain, and is typically responsible for at least $5 million in annual engineering cost input. It provides technical leadership and manages cost, schedule, milestones, and customer and project-management interfaces. The engineer coordinates across disciplines and works with internal leaders, external customers, Chief Engineers, and resident experts to achieve program objectives. The role also supports milestone deliverables, requirements and development documentation, risk reduction, and project artifact management. Infrequent travel to off-site locations may be required (0–10%).
