About The Position

Eaton’s Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer to join our site in Broomfield, Colorado. The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for identifying opportunities and executing projects that increase value, improve quality and decrease costs for switchgear products. This role creates and manages the Value Engineering project deck and works closely with cross functional productivity improvement leaders to deliver cost savings to the business. Progress, resource status, results, roadblocks and mitigations are reported to executive staff. This role also requires leading or executing small and medium projects meeting schedule, cost, and quality targets. The ideal candidate will have a background in power system distribution product, mechanical engineering, and project management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

  • Product design, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities across the entire scope of solid dielectric switchgear products and applications to increase value, improve quality and decrease costs.
  • Participates in and often leads brainstorming/idea generation activities. Contributes creative design alternatives - constantly looking for ways to improve processes, products, and services.
  • Creates and maintains the VAVE project deck. Summarizes active and planned project progress, resource status, results, roadblocks and mitigations for business leaders.
  • Coordinates and works collaboratively with cross functional teams to develop project plans and manage risks.
  • Conducts engineering investigation utilizing literature resources, subject matter experts, and experimentation.
  • Creates detailed designs and performs engineering analysis leveraging advanced tools (CAD, FEA, statistical analysis, software applications, electrical/mechanical analysis tools, etc.).
  • Develops system and sub-system functional and reliability test plans, and coordinates/participates in the execution of the tests using both internal and external lab resources.
  • Sets aggressive goals, measures performance, and strives to go beyond what is expected.
