About The Position

This position reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for maintaining workflow by monitoring personnel, resources, and processes. The Lead Production Supervisor will execute the production plan by scheduling and assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and reporting results. This role ensures the timely processing of work orders and manages production schedules for all shifts, creating and overseeing a 24-hour production plan and holding all shifts accountable for meeting performance expectations. The position enforces organizational quality standards, leads quality initiatives, and follows up on MRR/CAPA issues, implementing corrective actions. Responsibilities include developing, documenting, and maintaining work instructions and best practices for production, as well as supervising, coaching, and disciplining employees to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. The Lead Production Supervisor conducts performance evaluations, provides professional growth opportunities, and trains new hires and cross-trains existing staff. They initiate and lead process improvement projects in collaboration with manufacturing engineering, troubleshoot and resolve workflow issues, and respond to unexpected requests. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by enforcing safety protocols and educating employees on proper equipment use is crucial. This role supports key safety initiatives, adheres to OSHA requirements, and documents/reports data on performance metrics, safety, quality, and productivity. The Lead Production Supervisor acts as a liaison between production and other departments, responds to inquiries from Sales, and coordinates with Production Supervisors on finished goods requirements. Additionally, this role provides hands-on backup support for personnel when necessary and operates material handling equipment safely.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coach and guide employees effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and monitor production processes.
  • Hands-on approach to leadership and problem-solving with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Must tolerate long periods of standing and have the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency and results-driven mindset.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain punctuality and dependability.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certifications preferred.
  • Technical background with knowledge of fabrication, machine-shop operations, or assembly processes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and OSHA compliance is a plus.
