MSM Industries is seeking a hands-on 2nd Shift Lead, Production Operations to oversee day-to-day production floor activities and ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations across assigned shifts. This role is responsible for executing production plans, leading frontline teams, and maintaining performance across safety, quality, and productivity metrics. The Shift Lead serves as the first line of leadership on the floor, driving accountability and ensuring smooth shift-to-shift transitions.

Requirements

  • 3-5 + years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate teams in a production setting
  • Working knowledge of production processes, KPIs, and shop floor operations
  • Basic computer skills and experience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP or Epicor) for production tracking, work orders, and inventory
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams as Maintenance, Quality, and Operations leadership
  • Familiarity with safety standards and compliance requirements (e.g., OSHA)
  • Ability to work on assigned shift and meet physical demands (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs)
  • Must be a (i) US Citizen, (ii) lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (aka green card holder), (iii) protected individual as defined by U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or (iv) eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a Shift Lead, Team Lead, or supervisory role
  • Direct experience working in an AS9100-certified environment
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practices

Responsibilities

  • Lead shift startup: review prior shift handoff, confirm staffing, assign roles, and run shift huddles (safety, goals, priorities)
  • Oversee production operations, monitoring output, efficiency, scrap, and workflow; adjust staffing to resolve bottlenecks
  • Ensure machines are properly set up and changeovers are completed accurately and on time
  • Provide direction and support to operators; manage attendance and break coverage; escalate concerns as needed
  • Enforce safety standards and PPE compliance, address and report unsafe conditions or incidents
  • Conduct in-process quality checks and ensure adherence to work instructions
  • Troubleshoot production and equipment issues; coordinate with Maintenance and escalate when needed
  • Complete end-of-shift reporting (KPIs, downtime, scrap, labor) and provide detailed shift handoff
