About The Position

We are seeking a Lead Product Manager for Agentic AI to join a small, highly autonomous pod within our Tax & Accounting division. This role is for someone who excels at the intersection of product strategy, tax domain logic, and AI capabilities. You will be the central figure for AI execution, working closely with domain experts to understand complex tax logic and using agentic tooling to prototype workflows that engineering will then refine for production. A key distinction for this role is that you will orchestrate agents around existing, mature tax calculation engines rather than reimplementing logic within prompts. Candidates who grasp this distinction will be well-suited for this position.

Requirements

  • Daily practitioner of agentic tooling, with experience orchestrating real work using environments like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
  • Ability to analyze raw transcripts to diagnose agent failures (prompt issues, missing tools, eval gaps, model limitations) and prioritize fixes.
  • Systems thinking, including understanding of context windows, RAG, model routing, tool design, and knowing when to use deterministic rules or existing engines over LLM calls.
  • Proven track record of shipping user experiences that honestly handle AI uncertainty, including fallbacks, confidence signals, and human-in-the-loop validation.
  • Commercial pragmatism with a bias for time-to-market, understanding when to use third-party APIs versus investing in proprietary orchestration.
  • Experience shipping commercial software into regulated enterprise SaaS environments where compliance, data privacy, auditability, and uptime are critical.
  • High-agency builder mentality with a desire to shape the future of commercial tax software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in tax, accounting, legal, healthcare, or financial services regulated domains.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate high-fidelity agent prototypes and the associated eval suites that define project completion.
  • Own the design and implementation of the evaluation framework to ensure accuracy, detect hallucinations, and prevent logic failures in tax software.
  • Translate complex tax jobs-to-be-done into structured agent architectures, including multi-agent orchestration, state management, and human-in-the-loop decision points for engineering.
  • Manage unit economics by balancing model accuracy with latency and inference costs, ensuring commercially viable gross margins and designing cost-effective alternatives.
  • Design systems for graceful degradation, including fallbacks to deterministic rules or human routing when agents encounter ambiguity.
  • Partner with tax Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate their expertise into system prompts, tool contracts, and evaluation criteria, building trust and fostering collaboration.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle from opportunity identification through validated prototype, evaluation performance, and production launch.
  • Identify gaps in team capabilities (Engineering, UX Design, Tax SMEs) and help build the right team around the product.
