About The Position

The Lead Product Engineer serves as the product owner for an assigned business, taking responsibility for the product from the drawing level through all manufacturing operations. This role includes conducting product quality reviews related to the manufacturing process. It demands a strong command of theoretical knowledge, well-developed functional skills, and expertise in relevant technologies and standard functional practices. While some judgment is required, it is typically exercised with guidance. Key responsibilities also involve ensuring both quality assurance and quality control for compressor blades and vanes processed through Grind applications within the FBM Business. The engineer will collaborate with other departments at the Rutland site to enhance product quality for their designated product line, covering quality assurance for products, services, and manufacturing processes, including manufacturing conformance, incoming goods control, and product inspection. The position involves developing new solutions, often with guidance or in a team, or by leveraging existing precedents. The Lead Product Engineer will engage with all levels of the Rutland organization and external partners to support new product introductions and design changes. They are expected to define requirements, communicate project updates concerning product quality and throughput based on site metrics, and contribute to product delivery as part of a team. Furthermore, the role entails leading analytical and design activities using established technologies and methods, and maintaining comprehensive product ownership throughout all operational stages in the assigned business area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing / or Military experience)
  • 3 years of Manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Ownership includes both quality assurance and quality control of compressor blades and vanes processed through Grind applications for FBM Business
  • Interfaces with other businesses within the Rutland site to improve product quality for owned product line
  • Includes quality assurance of products, services, & manufacturing processes
  • Includes conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, etc.
  • Develops new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations
  • Works across all levels of the Rutland organization, as well as externally to support new product introduction & design changes
  • Specifies needs, communicates about projects around product quality and throughput as dictated by site level metrics
  • Delivers products as part of a team
  • Leads analytical and design activities using proven technologies and vested approaches and methods
  • Ownership of product through all operations in the assigned business area
