About The Position

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as the lead process engineer and/or senior technical advisor for multiple projects. This role involves developing heat and material balances, creating PFDs and P&IDs, performing equipment sizing and hydraulic calculations, and leading safety reviews. The position also includes developing design basis, process control narratives, and providing technical guidance to other disciplines and less experienced engineers. Responsibilities extend to proposal preparation, feasibility studies, conceptual designs, and supporting construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts. The role emphasizes leading others in using modern tools like automation and AI to improve workflows and deliver cost-effective designs.

Requirements

BS and/or MS in engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background.
15+ years of oil and gas industry experience in midstream and/or upstream.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required as well as a professional demeanor.
Excellent team-working skills.
Able to travel as necessary for client meetings, job site visits, start-up activities, off-site training, industry related conventions/seminars, etc. (up to 20% travel).

Nice To Haves

Professional Engineering License is preferred.
Strong knowledge of gas plants and gas processing preferred.
Skills in HYSYS, Synergi, VMG Symmetry, and/or ProMax preferred.
Skills in pipeline hydraulic modeling including dynamic surge analysis.
Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as the lead process engineer and/or senior technical advisor for multiple projects.
Develop the heat and material balance for new projects using process simulation tools.
Create process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
Perform equipment sizing calculations and prepare equipment data sheets.
Perform detailed hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes, control valve sizing, compressor and pump duties, etc.
Perform facility overpressure protection calculations, PSV sizing, and documentation.
Lead and/or participate in safety reviews, HAZOP/PHAs, and PSM activities.
Develop Design Basis for new projects.
Develop Process Control Narrative document and support Cause & Effect document.
Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients, vendors, and contractors.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced designers and engineers (non-supervisory role).
Participate in the preparation of proposals for engineering services.
Support schedule planning for projects including coordinating staffing resources with Process Engineering Manager.
Perform feasibility/economic studies, conceptual designs, front-end design (FEL), optimization/de-bottle-necking studies.
Support construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts, draft operating procedures and provide operator training manual input.
Provide technical guidance and information to mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and project engineering disciplines.
Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
Direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked.
Oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs.
