About The Position

Weymouth is seeking a passionate and experienced Preschool Lead Teacher to create and lead a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for children ages 3–5. The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a curriculum that promotes children’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development, while maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom culture that supports individual growth and learning.

Requirements

  • CDA (Child Development associates), Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field required (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • State-required Lead Teacher qualification or credential.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of child development principles and early learning frameworks.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must meet all state and local licensing requirements, including background checks, immunizations, and health screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with early learning standards and the center’s educational philosophy (e.g., play-based, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, etc.).
  • Establish and maintain a structured, supportive classroom where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to explore and learn.
  • Observe and assess children’s development, documenting progress and using assessments to inform instruction and individualized support.
  • Build strong relationships with families through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and updates about children’s progress and classroom activities.
  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers and float staff; model best practices in child care and education.
  • Ensure all licensing, health, and safety standards are met consistently within the classroom.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development to stay current on early childhood best practices.
