About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Portfolio Manager (Lead Secured Lending Underwriter) to manage a portfolio of Key Accounts Purchase (KAP) and Supplier Finance relationships. This role integrates program execution, on-going credit underwriting, and portfolio risk management into a single coverage model and serves as the primary point of accountability for program risk and performance. This role is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of strategic corporate clients utilizing Key Account Purchase (KAP) and Supplier Finance solutions. The Lead (The Lead Portfolio Manager) acts as the product and execution lead for complex client relationships, ensuring flawless delivery, strong utilization, disciplined risk management, and continuous value realization for clients and their supplier ecosystems. The role sits within a high‑performing product specialist organization and serves as a trusted advisor to clients, coverage partners, and senior leadership. The Specialist (Lead Portfolio Manager) partners closely with Sales, Relationship Management, Credit, Operations, Technology, and Risk to structure, implement, optimize, and scale working capital solutions that align with client objectives and the firm’s balance sheet, risk, and growth priorities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Secured Lending Underwriting experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Supplier Finance, Key Account Purchase, Payables Finance, Reverse Factoring, or Supply Chain Finance solutions
  • Prior client‑facing product, portfolio management, or implementation leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of working capital, cash flow analysis, credit structures, and risk management principles
  • Experience managing large supplier ecosystems and driving program adoption
  • Familiarity with regulated financial products and enterprise credit approval processes
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance growth, risk, and client outcomes
  • Ability to manage multiple complex client relationships and priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong risk discipline and ensure consistent adherence to regulatory, policy, and compliance standards across complex portfolios
  • Proven capacity to proactively identify risks, issues, and growth opportunities and independently drive effective solutions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence senior leadership, coverage teams, clients, and cross‑functional partners
  • Track record of contributing to a high‑performance, collaborative team environment with a focus on client outcomes and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with existing clients within their products or functional area, including sharing relevant information with coverage team partners
  • Independently review and analyze client portfolios, including highly complex scenarios, for key issues related to cash flow, liquidity, leverage, working capital, debt coverage, collateral or enterprise value analysis, and repayment sources, including for use in periodic reviews as well as interim underwriting memoranda
  • Partner with coverage teams within the context of individual deals and client relationships, to anticipate and understand clients’ businesses, strategic objectives, operational priorities, and financial positions to identify opportunities for modifications, renewals, and refinancings
  • Assessing a client’s financial position and risk level and acting as an advisor to leadership for highly complex situations for both prospective and existing clients
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges by synthesizing industry and economic trends, including complicated legal and regulatory issues, in addition to regular portfolio reviews to manage risk and lead problem loan resolutions, where applicable
  • Prepare for periodic exams by internal and external auditors
  • Strategically engage with all levels across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership to resolve client issues and achieve business objectives while leveraging a sound understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Partner with product management functional partners and other senior leaders to provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on evolving market needs to enable the innovation, design, and delivery of credit solutions more effectively, including large-scale, cross-functional, or companywide strategies
