Under general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager for Mechanical Trades, the Lead Plumber may work independently or lead small work groups. When leading these small groups, devises and/or revises ways of doing work assigned. The incumbent recommends alternative materials or methods for accomplishing work when applicable; insures successful completion of job; insures that safety regulations are observed. In Supervising Plumber’s absence, the lead takes leadership responsibility for entire shop; determines priorities, issues work orders, schedules work, and coordinates work with other shops and clients, communicates with management and participates in continuous improvement programs. Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of four critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services; Energy, Utilities, & Sustainability; Facilities Planning & Capital Projects; and Facilities Operations.
