About The Position

The Piping Superintendent supervises and directs field construction activities within the piping discipline, including site fabrication and installation of piping, hangers, supports, and above- and underground systems. This role oversees craft, subcontractor, and assigned personnel to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with specifications, schedules, and budget requirements.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and project walk-downs, including extensive walking, climbing ladders or scaffolding, using fall protection/PPE, accessing elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering in confined spaces.
  • Extensive piping, hanger, and mechanical field installation experience in a nuclear power or heavy industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated field supervision, planning, scheduling, and leadership experience in a team-based construction environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from piping design drawings, including isometric and orthographic drawings, design guides, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction quality assurance, industry quality standards, and Bechtel processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction safety programs, safety compliance, lock-out/tag-out requirements, and current industry safety standards.
  • Understanding of single- and multi-discipline construction or engineering operations, supervisory field functions, and unionized labor environments.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, positive work environment and supporting a Nuclear Safety and Quality Culture.
  • Ability to work extended schedules and night shift as required to support project execution plans.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and technical database applications.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with discipline superintendents, subcontractors, general foremen, foremen, and field engineers to set priorities, align schedules, and control field work.
  • Plan and execute piping field activities in accordance with project processes, specifications, schedules, and budget requirements.
  • Identify manpower, tools, equipment, and material needs; prepare craft requisitions and installation forecasts.
  • Develop daily craft assignments, supervise in-process work, review completed activities, and monitor performance against project goals.
  • Supervise subordinate personnel and craft perform piping construction activities.
  • Provide active leadership for project safety, accident prevention, and fire prevention programs.
