About The Position

ConvenientMD is seeking an experienced, compassionate Physician Assistant to serve as a Lead Provider in an urgent care clinic. The Lead Provider delivers high-quality, patient-centered care and serves as a clinical leader for clinic staff, mentoring and supporting new-graduate providers and allied healthcare professionals. The role involves assessing and treating patients, documenting care, maintaining a safe and compliant clinic environment, collaborating with the care team, and supporting staff development. Lead Providers may provide clinic leadership when the Practice Manager is not in the clinic.

Requirements

Master’s degree and certification by a Physician Assistant certifying body.
Maintain a DEA license with no restrictions.
Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; CPR, ACLS, and online-only classes are not accepted.
Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor provider and non-provider clinic staff.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
Proactive, confident written and verbal communication skills, including raising concerns and communicating directly with colleagues and patients.
Compassionate, authentic, patient-focused approach, with kindness and understanding toward patients and colleagues.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software and clinical management systems, including EMR.
Knowledge of customer and personal service principles, including assessing customer needs, meeting service quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA requirements and state rules pertinent to medical practices.
Knowledge of relevant drugs, their chemical composition, structure, properties, and the chemical processes and transformations they undergo.
Knowledge of non-pharmaceutical patient-care aids, their uses, and their relevance to patient care.
Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Nice To Haves

Clinical experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or an ambulatory care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct health assessments, physical examinations, and reviews of medical histories to address patients’ short- and long-term needs.
Interview patients, perform examinations, and obtain, update, and review medical histories.
Administer or order diagnostic tests, including x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies, and interpret test results.
Perform therapeutic procedures, including administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections.
Educate and counsel patients about their health, therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, and wellness.
Prepare clear, complete, accurate, and legible medical records; type, edit, and electronically sign office notes, reports, and records using the EMR in accordance with company policies.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with company and state procedures, rules, and regulations.
Follow infection-control policies and protocols to protect patients and employees.
Comply with legal and professional requirements, monitor legislation, enforce adherence to requirements, and advise management on needed actions.
Collaborate with providers and other healthcare practitioners to treat patients and plan coordinated, timely dispositions, including transfers.
Act as a clinic leader, particularly when the Practice Manager is not in the clinic.
Support and mentor new-graduate providers and other clinic staff.
Serve as a preceptor to new provider staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, personal networks, and professional societies.
