About The Position

The Patient Service Center Phlebotomist works in a Patient Service Center (draw station) located in a Beth Israel Lahey Health - Primary Care practice, or in a dedicated office suite in a medical office building, or in a doctor’s office. In this role, you will perform specimen collections, provide exceptional customer service, and be the face and voice of the BILH Laboratories to patients.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED required.
1-3 years related work experience required.
Basic familiarity with computers.
Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Nice To Haves

Registration Phlebotomy Certificate preferred.
Phlebotomy Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintains adequate staffing levels and efficient, effective workflow and scheduling.
Provides training to phlebotomists to ensure competency.
Provides data input for the payroll system in the absence of Supervisor and Phlebotomy Leaders.
Acts as a technical resource for all difficult Phlebotomy blood draws for the institution.
Ensures rounds are completed as scheduled and provides assistance, as needed, to maintain timelines of routine and STAT blood draws.
Communicates lab issues and problems to Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Manager and recommends resolution.
On a daily basis, interacts and communicates with customers including patients, site office manager, physicians, and medical assistants.
Shares on-call duties.
Provides input for performance appraisals.
Ensures 24/7 coverage for Inpatient Rounds.
