About The Position

We’re seeking a Payroll Specialist to own accurate, timely payroll and compensation operations in a growing organization. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, supporting payroll, commissions, expenses, and accounts payable while helping build scalable finance processes as the business grows.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in payroll, compensation operations, and/or accounts payable
  • Experience owning multi-state U.S. payroll and supporting variable compensation programs
  • Strong knowledge of payroll fundamentals and compliance
  • Familiarity with modern payroll, HRIS, AP, and expense tools
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
  • High attention to detail, discretion with confidential data, and strong follow-through
  • Clear communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Responsibilities

  • Run end-to-end U.S. payroll cycles, including deductions, withholdings, tax filings, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Calculate sales commissions and variable compensation with clear, auditable logic
  • Administer corporate expense and credit card programs and support AP processing
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee payroll and compensation questions
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce errors and manual work
  • Partner with Finance, People Ops, and Sales to keep payroll, HRIS, and GL data aligned
  • Support ad hoc projects related to growth, systems, and new initiatives
