About The Position

With a customer service orientation, the employee will oversee all patient demographic, insurance verifications, collection of all account balances and procedure visits, as well as patient benefit plan information. Project the professional image of Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group while expediently checking in patients. The Lead Patient Care Coordinator plans, organizes, and directs the administrative functions of the physician’s front office, coordinating activities to accomplish the goals of the practice.

Requirements

  • Directly supervises front office staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
  • Oversee waiting area, coordinate patient flow and report problems to immediate supervisor
  • Verify demographic and insurance information and update as necessary in EMR
  • Verify patient paperwork for completion and scan documents, insurance card(s) and photo identification into EMR
  • Prepare and verify daily deposit for billing
  • Verify current information for upcoming appointments
  • Conducts reminder calls to patients, as assigned or needed
  • Update insurance if missing or inaccurate from EMR system
  • Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures such as work flow and ordering of supplies
  • Maximizes office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications, such as the electronic medical records system
  • Researches and develops resources and protocols that create timely and efficient workflow
  • Assists in establishing uniform correspondence, procedures and practices
  • Follows policies and procedures for calling in and finds appropriate coverage
  • Assists in the hiring process and if necessary
  • Reports issues to your direct supervisor or Human Resources for disciplinary action
  • Lead staff and providers in understanding / implementing front office policies and procedure
  • Serves as the key problem-solving resource for all front office staff
  • Prepares reports for administration as required
  • Trains personnel or schedules training for new front office staff and assists and participates in ongoing training of existing employees
  • Helps establish performance goals for front office staff and assists in the annual review process
  • Reviews, approves and maintains employee timesheets and PTO requests
  • Responsible for ensuring and maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Participates in meetings, as required
  • Other duties, as assigned.
