About The Position

The EMT - Paramedic Lead works on the Rapid Response team (RRT) using basic emergency medical technician and paramedic skills while following medically approved protocols within the clinic. This role serves on the RRT review committee as co-chair. In addition to all job responsibilities of a paramedic on the Rapid Response Team, provides leadership and mentoring for all members of the rapid response team (RRT) around emergency response, customer experience, standards of care, protocol use, and skills. Holds membership on Emergency Response committee, provides quarterly data for manager review of calls within the CSC and protocols applied. Provide feedback to team members and clinic staff on performance during emergencies and communication to EMS responders. Monitors issues raised by clinics and meets in collaboration with the manager with teams to improve service for patients. Provides training for all members on the rapid response team. Leads team meetings providing agendas and topic selection based on current calls and issues/concerns/needs.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Paramedic in State of Minnesota
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Minimum of one year active EMT-P experience
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial assessment of the condition of the patient and determines a course of action applying an approved patient care protocol
  • Provides basic life support and operate within their license with the State of Minnesota under the medical direction of the clinic Medical Director
  • Appropriately triages patient to receive support and remain in the clinic for their scheduled appointment or contact 911 and hand off patient for transport to emergency department
  • Maintains high level of knowledge and proficiency in protocols and attends trainings and case reviews as warranted.
  • Responsible for planning and leading monthly team meetings. Plans content around RRT calls and skills needed to continuously improve team performance.
  • Monitors and assists director in ensuring 100% compliance for regulatory checks of crash carts across CSC.
  • Ensures all equipment is properly functioning and disposables are not expired.
  • Trains new team members including skills and competencies. Provides routine updates during orientation to manager of employees progress and needs. Signs off on completion of orientation process in collaboration with employee and manager.
  • Produces RRT member schedules monthly and adjusts for absences.
  • Together with manager writes, reviews, and updates all RRT protocols. Ensures protocols are distributed to team members and training on new protocols completed.
  • Trains others across M Physicians in rapid assessment and triage of clinic patients
  • Demonstrates ability to provide applicable care/service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served
