About The Position

The packaging sanitation lead will assist the sanitation department in ensuring smooth, safe, and productive operations. This role focuses on maintaining high standards in safety, quality, production, and employee management. The lead will report any issues to the Sanitation Supervisor and/or Packaging Manager to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to sanitation protocols. Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Personal qualities of tact and dependability
  • Possess good manual dexterity
  • Vision abilities (close, distance, color and ability to focus)
  • Able to push/pull/lift and carry at least 30 pounds continuously and 50 pounds occasionally
  • Able to stand for entire shift
  • Able to perform repetitive movements (e.g. twisting, gripping, lifting, bending, reaching)
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in the Sanitation or Food industry preferred
  • Knowledge of Food Safety, FDA and USDA
  • Knowledge of Computers and Systems (Microsoft Word, manufacturing operating systems)
  • Effective and proficient communicator, written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good time management skills and ability to delegate

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all sanitation practices meet specifications, perform CIP, COP, and hand cleaning procedures, and verify equipment cleanliness
  • Oversee daily sanitation activities, assist with packaging setup, ensure quality control checks, and verify code information on packaging
  • May be responsible for reviewing and approving the time records of all staff assigned
  • Work with all departments to ensure proper adherence to GMP, GSP, FSSC practices, QC policies, and equipment maintenance
  • Maintain and tour the department every half hour to ensure sufficient staffing and supplies, communicate with employees, and resolve issues
  • Champion a safe work environment by performing tasks safely to avoid unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and by taking necessary measures if people are performing unsafe acts
  • Comply with all Lactalis policies, programs, procedures, and documentation requirements to ensure an ethical and safe work environment
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or manager
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Job Tasks (JT)
  • Alert the manager when there is a deviation from food safety policies and standards
  • Apply Good Manufacturing Practices to contribute to the maintenance of the FSSC 22000 standard
  • Prevent contamination of ingredients, non-finished and finished goods, and equipment
  • High-level attention to hygiene and product quality to meet customers' needs and satisfaction
