Requirements

  • At least 1 year of industry experience.
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, and pull 25 to 35 lbs, occasionally carry up to 50 lbs, and occasionally push or pull up to 150 lbs using a pallet jack or gaylords to transport large packages.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of package handling and sortation workflows.
  • Ability to lead by example in safety, productivity, and attendance.
  • Effective communication and basic coaching skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Comfortable providing direction to peers and supporting leadership initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe work environment by enforcing company safety protocols, including dock, conveyor, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Train and guide package handlers, providing hands-on demonstrations and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Oversee package handling, sorting, and inspection processes to ensure accuracy, prevent damage, and avoid misroutes.
  • Monitor equipment functionality, submit maintenance requests, and manage damaged freight according to company procedures.
  • Check in and check out third-party drivers, verify credentials, and ensure proper documentation and manifest accuracy.
  • Load and unload packages from trailers, conveyor belts, and sortation equipment.
  • Sort, scan, and route parcels to designated areas based on destination or route.
  • Provide guidance and direction to package handlers during assigned shifts.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new team members.
  • Monitor workflow and help balance labor to meet volume and service timelines.
  • Reinforce safety practices, proper lifting techniques, and compliance with procedures.
  • Identify and communicate performance issues, productivity gaps, or operational concerns.
  • Serve as a point of contact for operational questions and issue escalation.
