About The Position

At Avenues for Youth, we partner with youth experiencing homelessness to help them achieve housing stability and build pathways to independence. Through a social justice lens, we provide safe, affirming spaces where young people can define their futures and thrive. The Lead Overnight Youth Support Specialist provides leadership and oversight during overnight operations, ensuring the safety, stability, and well-being of youth residents. This role combines direct youth support with staff leadership, coaching, and operational responsibility to ensure smooth and effective overnight shifts. This is a fully onsite, hands-on role working closely with youth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
2–4 years of relevant experience
Must be at least 24 years of age

Nice To Haves

Experience with trauma-informed care and youth work preferred
Supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive overnight environment
Oversee overnight operations including room checks, phones, and shift tasks
Maintain cleanliness and order of the program space
Provide coverage when needed to ensure supervision
Build positive, professional relationships with youth
Provide mentoring and support with routines, meals, and independent living skills
De-escalate conflicts and support a safe environment
Support youth in developing life skills
Supervise and support overnight staff
Provide coaching and guidance during shifts
Assist with scheduling and coverage needs
Support onboarding and training
Complete documentation accurately and timely
Provide clear shift updates
Maintain professional communication
