About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Specialty Software Engineer in our Core Banking Group as part of Consumer Technology. In this role, you will lead complex initiatives on selected domains, ensure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate risk, define opportunities to maximize resource utilization and improve processes while reducing cost, and lead, design, develop, test and implement applications and system components, tools and utilities, models, simulation, and analytics to manage complex business functions using sophisticated technologies. You will also resolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging nature, lead a team to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for the supported area are met, and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives. Additionally, you will mentor less experienced software engineers, collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers, lead a team to achieve objectives, and partner effectively with production support and platform engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c+), including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery (RMAN), and patching within the financial services industry
  • Strong expertise in Oracle architecture and core technologies (RAC, Data Guard, ASM), along with advanced SQL/PLSQL and troubleshooting in high-availability production environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Oracle environments within financial services, particularly Core Banking platforms (e.g., FLEXCUBE, Finacle, T24)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based Oracle deployments (OCI, AWS RDS for Oracle, or Azure) and migration strategies
  • Knowledge of database security best practices, encryption, auditing, and regulatory compliance (e.g., SOX, PCI, FFIEC)
  • Experience with automation/scripting (Shell, Python, or Ansible) for database provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Exposure to enterprise monitoring tools (OEM, SolarWinds, Splunk) and performance optimization in large-scale, mission-critical systems
