About The Position

The Production Lead is responsible to assist and / or represent the Supervisor by coordinating activities of production workers. This role involves inspecting products, directing machine setup and adjustments, interpreting company policies and job orders, enforcing safety procedures, monitoring worker training, establishing work procedures, recommending improvements, analyzing and resolving problems, motivating workers, maintaining production records, and performing duties of workers within the department. The Lead Operator must also comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies, maintain attendance, and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

High school or equivalent education required.
Minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.
Ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents.
Ability to effectively present information to all levels of employees including top management in a variety of settings.
Use of basic mathematic skills including fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to operate a variety of office equipment with basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop kneel, bend, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Must have the ability to periodically work all shift schedules, periodic overtime and be available for periodic weekend work.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the plastics industry including extrusion, thermoforming or blow molding a plus.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup & adjustments of machines.
Interprets company policies, specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
Enforces safety policies and procedures.
Monitors workers participation to ensure the training provided is being put into use and to see if any additional training is needed.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Analyzes and resolves problems, or assists workers in solving problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Maintains production records and distributes reports to appropriate personnel.
Performs activities of workers within the department.
Performs all duties in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as company policies and procedures.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Performs other job duties and assignments as requested or as business needs require.
Assists / fill-in for Production Supervisor when needed.
