Account for operation of the wastewater treatment plant processes, laboratory, and biosolids management operations and perform various other assigned operations responsibilities. This role involves providing continuous effective treatment of collected wastewater, managing biosolids processing and distribution, and performing analytical examinations of water, wastewater, and biosolids in compliance with EPA and PADEP regulations. The Lead Operator ensures sufficient liquid biosolids storage capacity, procures necessary materials and supplies, and maintains required records. They also communicate instructions, direct, and review the work of other operators, implement and maintain standard operating procedures, and account for all assigned materials, tools, and equipment. Coordination of wastewater treatment, biosolids, and laboratory operations, along with preventive and corrective maintenance, is crucial. The role also includes assuring the scheduling and performance of sample collections, coordinating with private laboratories, and conferring with other operators and the Utility Operations Supervisor. Monitoring vehicle inventory and condition, completing work orders and daily activity reports, and operating heavy equipment are also key responsibilities. The Lead Operator assists in policy and procedure development, reviews the work of other operators, complies with safety procedures, and participates in continuous improvement programs and cross-functional teams.
