The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Lead Operator - Wastewater to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Utilities Department. This role involves leading, overseeing, and participating in the work of a crew performing semi-skilled and skilled duties related to the inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater pumping, water treatment, chemical control, and monitoring equipment. The Lead Operator will operate the Division's supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, ensure adequate disinfectant and/or sterilization processes, perform or facilitate repairs on various equipment, coordinate and conduct the wastewater quality sampling program, and respond to emergency situations. The position also involves performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in the inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of water pumping, water treatment, chemical control, and monitoring equipment, including booster pumps, wells, reservoirs, pressure regulators, automated valves, production systems, and related facilities and equipment. The role requires attending safety meetings, coordinating and conducting water quality sampling, administering proper chlorine dosages, inspecting and maintaining chlorine systems, testing and monitoring water pressure, monitoring and adjusting the SCADA system, reading and recording operational data, performing system-wide reservoir inspections, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical facilities, performing pump efficiency testing, performing routine maintenance and repairs on system components, maintaining detailed records, responding to customer requests, and responding to after-hours emergencies and on-call duties.
