Department Summary: The L616 – Enterprise and Tactical Networking Department within MITRE Technology and Engineering specializes in complex network challenges vital to national well-being. Our work involves researching, developing, and applying advanced technologies in core areas such as: Network Transport architecture design and implementation for operational fielding Optical Transport Network (OTN) and Carrier Ethernet (CE) Engineering Network Type 1 Encryption devices Network Routing and Switching Virtual Private Networks / Network Overlay Technologies Familiar with , Cyber security techniques, Zero Trust, Crypto devices Network reliability, resilience, mission security and assurance Network Quality of Service Engineering Network Operation Center tools and management design By integrating deep technical expertise across these networking domains, we provide our federal sponsors with comprehensive solutions that enable their mission outcomes.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Must have an active Top Secret/SCI U.S Government issued Security Clearance.
  • Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering related discipline, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Professional or expert level networking certification(s).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills

Responsibilities

  • MITRE Lead Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, testing, validation, and modernization of high quality of service, secure, resilient, and scalable Air Force network environments spanning WAN, CAN, and secure Government cloud use cases.
  • Opportunities exist to merge Air Force networks to achieve costs savings and optimization of transport.
  • The role requires strong leadership and communication skills, strong collaboration, technical rigor, and the ability to translate sponsor and mission needs into practical engineering solutions.
  • The role requires familiarity with Intelligence Communities architectures and Air Force acquisition processes.
