Lead Mobile Phlebotomist
About The Position
The Lead Mobile Phlebotomist is responsible for overseeing and executing daily phlebotomy routes, ensuring operational efficiency and clear communication with dispatch. This role involves early morning check-ins to confirm schedules and address any changes, completing volume-appropriate routes, and staying informed about facility clearances. Key duties include training new phlebotomists when needed, attending facility start-up in-services, and conducting quarterly trunk checks. The Lead Mobile Phlebotomist is also tasked with daily accounting of route sheets, managing mileage entry and assignment changes in Datarrive, and assisting APS with supply ordering, closing orders, and managing centrifuge and butterfly logs. This position requires cooperative work with various departments including Laboratory Dispatch, Courier Dispatch, Couriers, Accessioning, Customer Service, and Data Entry.
Responsibilities
- Checks in with dispatch @ 2:00am to double check for phlebotomist call offs, on-calls and any other amendments to the AM run.
- Completes volume appropriate route.
- Will keep apprised of AM facility clearance, including: UTO’s, same day refusals, ammonias etc.
- Develop good rapport with dispatch so there is clear communication.
- Train new phlebotomists when no trainers are designated for the area.
- Attend facility start up in-service with APS (time appropriate).
- Conduct quarterly trunk checks.
- Account for all route sheets on a daily basis (previous day or days if Monday).
- Stay up to date on mileage entry in Datarrive.
- Make changes in Datarrive daily for next day assignments.
- Assist APS in ordering supplies and closing orders, if there is no other designee.
- Assist APS in collection of centrifuge logs and placement in binders, if there is no other designee.
- Assist APS in butterfly logs/usage, if there is no other designee.
- Works cooperatively with all other departments, including but not limited to: Laboratory Dispatch, Courier Dispatch, Couriers, Accessioning, Customer Service and Data Entry
