About The Position

Restoration 1 New Jersey is seeking an experienced Lead Mitigation Technician / Crew Chief for their Denville, New Jersey location. This is a hands-on field position for an individual with existing restoration business knowledge, comfortable managing their assigned truck, equipment, and mitigation projects. The Crew Chief is typically the lead technician in the company van, working independently or with another technician/helper depending on project size. The role involves arriving at water loss sites, assessing the scope of work, setting up projects, performing mitigation, documenting the job, communicating with the Project Manager, and ensuring professional customer service.

Requirements

  • Previous water damage mitigation / restoration experience required
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required
  • Ability to lift and carry restoration equipment and building materials
  • Ability to perform demolition and physical restoration work
  • Ability to move dehumidifiers, air movers, and other equipment
  • Ability to work in residential and commercial buildings
  • Ability to work in basements, crawlspaces, attics, and other jobsite environments
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE when required
  • Ability to safely operate power tools and restoration equipment
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency assignments

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Crew Chief, Lead Technician, or Senior Restoration Technician experience preferred
  • Experience with water extraction and structural drying
  • Experience performing demolition and removal of damaged building materials
  • Experience setting containment
  • Experience with air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA air scrubbers, and extraction equipment
  • Experience using moisture meters and documenting moisture readings
  • Understanding of drying procedures and equipment placement
  • Ability to properly document a mitigation project
  • IICRC certifications are highly preferred
  • WRT certification preferred
  • ASD, AMRT, FSRT, or additional IICRC certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Driving a company mitigation vehicle to assigned projects
  • Performing water extraction and emergency mitigation services
  • Performing controlled demolition and removal of damaged materials
  • Setting up containment and jobsite protection
  • Installing air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA air scrubbers, and other drying equipment
  • Taking moisture readings and monitoring drying progress
  • Determining proper equipment placement based on job conditions
  • Returning to jobsites for monitoring and equipment adjustments
  • Removing equipment once drying goals are achieved
  • Cleaning and organizing jobsites
  • Taking photos and documenting work performed
  • Completing required job documentation
  • Communicating job progress and jobsite conditions to the Project Manager
  • Communicating professionally with homeowners and commercial customers
  • Keeping assigned van clean, stocked, and organized
  • Maintaining and caring for company tools and restoration equipment
  • Loading and unloading equipment and materials
  • Working independently when required
  • Working side-by-side with a helper or technician on larger projects
  • Participating in emergency and after-hours response when required
