About The Position

Under the direction of laboratory management, the Lead Medical Lab Scientist leads all aspects of operations in an assigned laboratory section, team, or department. This includes preparing and maintaining records, reports, policies, and procedures; analyzing testing methodologies; training and staffing employees; providing technical oversight; and ensuring compliance. The role collaborates with team members to coordinate tasks, priorities, goals, and achievements with management. It also assists with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control and assurance, and maintenance within the assigned area. The position performs laboratory tests and procedures to help physicians diagnose, monitor, treat, and prevent disease.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 3 years of hospital experience.
Upon hire, certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB, meeting the qualifications under Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. AAB provisional certification is not accepted.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a life or biological science such as biology, biochemistry, or microbiology.
Previous lead or supervisory experience.
