The Lead Medical Coordinator oversees all health services for children in care within the HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) Nuevo Camino program, which serves 38 unaccompanied minors aged 5-17 in East Brooklyn. This program offers transitional foster homes, weekday education, and wraparound supports in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive environment aligned with ORR requirements. The role ensures timely and appropriate medical, dental, mental health, and public health support, supervises medical coordinators, and delivers training on pediatric, adolescent, and migrant health. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining policies for health records, triage, emergency response, environmental health and safety, and post-release care coordination. The Lead Medical Coordinator also acts as the primary liaison with healthcare providers, insurers, and medical facilities, ensuring compliance with ORR DHUC policies, federal, state, and local regulations, HIPAA, and insurance guidelines.
