About The Position

The Lead Mechanical Program Engineer (LMPE) provides technical expertise during the pre-award phase of complex engineering projects, focusing on standardization, modularization, and alignment with Amazon’s technical and operational needs. They ensure scope, schedules, and budgets meet organizational standards and Amazon’s expectations. Acting as the primary technical liaison, the LMPE facilitates communication between engineering, sales, and Amazon teams to support project execution. During project handover, the LMPE prepares risk assessments, identifies opportunities, and shares Lessons Learned to guide execution. They create Amazon specification packages, conduct periodic audits, and provide recommendations to maintain project success. Additionally, they lead multi-discipline Project Design Reviews and collaborate with the Training team to develop and deliver technical training materials.

• 5+ years of experience in technical project leadership, with a track record of managing complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Gain an in-depth understanding of complex Amazon technical standards and project requirements to inform strategic planning.
• Promote the development of comprehensive engineering strategies, resource plans, and project timelines in alignment with multifaceted project scopes.
• Coordinate and critically review multidisciplinary design efforts to ensure seamless integration and adherence to the highest technical standards.
• Act as the internal senior technical interface for Amazon, establishing trust and guiding strategic conversations across the FORTNA organization
• Assist the strategic sourcing of materials and components, optimizing resource allocation and scheduling.
• Display superior communication skills, leading by example to drive effective collaboration and cross-disciplinary integration.
