About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer to work in Edwards Air Force Base, CA. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens and be able to successfully pass a background investigation. This role provides mechanical engineering expertise for facility projects including planning, design, construction, operations, and quality assurance. Support is provided in areas such as planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations. The position involves conducting quality assurance reviews, inspections, and test witnessing for contractor performed facility work. Coordination with project managers, operations specialists, and stakeholders is essential to identify conditions, document requirements, and communicate project status. Ensuring compliance with NASA, federal, state, and local regulations and facility standards is a key responsibility. The role also supports configuration management, drawing updates, and facility documentation control.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
7+ years of experience in construction management.
Prior experience in mechanical design and facility project management.
Possess strong technical and leadership skills.
Must be eligible to obtain a NASA Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

A Professional Engineer Certificate is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Support facilities engineering, maintenance, and operations at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center.
Provides mechanical engineering expertise for facility projects including planning, design, construction, operations, and quality assurance.
