About The Position

Baker Hughes is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer – Customer Order Engineering to support and enhance existing inline inspection (ILI) products while delivering engineering-to-order solutions aligned with customer and regulatory requirements. This role involves leading problem-solving initiatives for timely project execution, coordinating with regional teams and product development centers, and providing technical leadership to ensure product reliability and performance in demanding operating environments. The position is within the Process & Pipeline Services (PPS) business, which provides ILI services to pipeline operators worldwide using innovative Magnetic and Ultrasonic technologies to ensure pipeline integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or Mechatronics.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering design including CAD modeling, machining, assembly drawings, and load calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Experience leading engineering projects and influencing technical decisions.
  • Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven teamwork capability.
  • Experience working and influencing in a cross-functional or matrix organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating product feature extensions to support customer-specific order requirements.
  • Adapting and integrating products and services to fulfill engineering-to-order customer requests.
  • Responding to technical customer service inquiries related to application and order engineering.
  • Leading Engineering-to-Order workflow processes in collaboration with regional teams and product development centers.
  • Performing mechanical evaluation, design, analysis, testing, and integration of systems and components using sound engineering principles.
  • Supporting hands-on development of new components and complete systems designed for harsh operating environments.
  • Providing technical discipline leadership to engineers supporting assigned projects.
  • Managing engineering tasks to meet technical, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Developing project plans and resource estimates to address customer requests or product issues.
  • Conducting production testing and analysis to validate design performance.
  • Ensuring designs comply with business, industry, and regulatory standards, codes, and requirements.
  • Applying design principles that support reliability, manufacturability, maintainability, and operability.
  • Creating, reviewing, and approving engineering documentation such as test plans, reports, and drawings.
